New York’s 122nd Assembly District in the Southern Tier will be represented by a new face next year — and it could be a familiar name.

Nick Libous, the son of late state Senator Tom Libous, will once again make a run for the seat.

Current Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, who has served more than two decades, announced he would not be seeking re-election.

Libous, a Republican, supports repealing bail reform and the Green Light law. He also hopes to ease regulations on small business owners and bring more funding to combat the opioid epidemic.

Libous lost to Crouch in 2018, but believes he learned a lot from the experience.

“I think we need new energy in the New York State Assembly, and I will be that energy, and I think that could help us promote our values in Upstate New York, rather than the values that we’re seeing from Albany, and I think we need young vibrant leaders who can go out and fight this fight and I’m one of them,” Libous said.

The 122nd Assembly District includes residents in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties.
